Is the app free?

The We Are Undefeatable app is completely free to download and use and includes unlimited access to all individual and group sessions.

What is the We Are Undefeatable app?

The We are Undefeatable app is our new free resource, giving you tailored exercise programmes that can be completed anywhere, anytime, and are suitable for a range of health conditions, no matter where you are in your journey.

Is the app suitable for me and my health condition?

The We Are Undefeatable app is suitable for people living with a range of health conditions, whether you’re just getting started, returning to activity or looking to try something new. It’s been developed in conjunction with a coalition of health and social care charities across the UK who support people living with:

  • Arthritis and Musculoskeletal conditions
  • Long-term limiting mobility conditions
  • Asthma
  • Cancer
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease/Lung Condition
  • Dementia
  • Heart Disease
  • Stroke
  • Hypertension (or other heart related condition)
  • Long-term depression or anxiety
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Parkinson's
  • Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes

The app may also be suitable for people with multiple conditions or people with conditions other than those listed above who are able to be independently active or have been told they would benefit from moving more.

Is there anyone who the app isn’t suitable for?

The app is not for the small number of people who may have been advised against physical activity or require specialist supervised activity. Every body and how their condition affects them is different and finding the appropriate physical activity for you depends on your own personal circumstance.

At this time, we are unable to fully cater to people who are unable to move parts of their body, such as those with paralysis. However, people with partial paralysis may be able to use the app with adaptations to suit them. For example, if you are unable to move your lower body, you could try upper body routines and you could also adapt the different exercises to what suits you and your body. For example, you can try seated or supported options available and adapt the exercises with smaller movements. We recommend starting your first session at the easiest level before progressing to anything more difficult and ensuring you rest when you need. If you have any concerns a therapist could support you with individual advice.

For most people with long term or multiple long term conditions it’s safe to be active, with numerous benefits. However, if you have concerns about the management of your conditions and/or symptoms and what being active would mean for them, please look at our campaign partner pages or consider visiting charity websites relevant to your condition for more information. If you still have questions speak to your GP or where applicable, your specialist healthcare professional.

  • Access to individual on-demand workouts tailored to you and your body.
  • Exercises and workouts developed by experienced and qualified physiotherapists.
  • Easy to follow movements demonstrated by your chosen animated activity guide.
  • Virtual group sessions with a live host from the comfort of your own home.
  • The opportunity to meet and chat with others virtually after taking part in a group session.
  • In-app tools available to help you stay on track.
Do I need internet to use this app?

Yes. You will need either Wi-Fi or 4G/5G to use this app. If you do not have access to the internet, you may find a location near you that offers free internet connection, whether that’s a local leisure centre or your library.

If you are struggling with connection, you will receive a pop-up banner telling you to check your internet connection. If this keeps happening, complete the following:

  1. Try going back a screen, from the one you are on. This might sort the connection issue straight away.
  2. Check your Wi-Fi or mobile data connection.
  3. Close and reopen the app.
  4. Uninstall and reinstall the app.
Do I need any equipment?

This app is fully tailored to you and it is up to you if or what equipment you might want to use. We always suggest ‘at home’ alternatives such as cans of beans, a bag of sugar or a pillow instead of weights. Or some tights or long socks for a resistance band.

If you select to use equipment the main pieces of are:

  • A form of weight
  • A resistance band
  • A chair
  • A step
  • An area for support like a worktop, desk or table
What are 'Goals'?

The goals section of the app allows you to participate in fun, virtual goals. This can be anything from exploring the great outdoors, visiting a famous landmark or taking part in your favourite sporting event. You ‘complete’ a goal by completing sessions within the app.

At the end of every session you complete, your activity contributes to the distance and duration of the goal. The more sessions you complete, the more you will progress with your goal. You can explore all the goals in the ‘Goals’ tab at the bottom of your screen.

Please note: only individual sessions will contribute to individual goal progression, and only virtual group sessions will contribute to group goal progression.

These workouts are too advanced for me, what should I do?

If the workouts feel too advanced for you, there are several ways you can reduce the intensity of your session.

When starting a workout, you will always be asked a set of pre-session questions. When answering these, you have several ways to tailor the intensity of your workout to how you are feeling that day. You can change:

  1. Your activity level: select from ‘something light’, ‘a little bit more’ or ‘I want to push myself’, with ‘something light’ being the lowest intensity option.
  2. Your training position: select from sitting, supported standing, standing or floor depending on what feels most comfortable for you.
  3. Your session duration: choose anywhere from 5-30 minutes.

If you are still finding the workouts too advanced, you can select a premade session by choosing ‘Get active > ‘I want to get started without answering any additional questions’. This will give you the option to complete some beginner sessions such as Five in Five, as well as Balance, Flexibility and Mobility sessions.

I am partially deaf – are there subtitles in the app?

We’re happy to say that the app is suitable for people who are hearing impaired. All the on-demand exercises - which is the most popular part of the app, are demonstrated visually by your chosen activity guide. There are also handy descriptions on each exercise to help you with the movements.

The only area on the app which may be more challenging for you are our live virtual group sessions as you might find it difficult to hear the host, and at this stage, there aren’t subtitles available. We are always looking to gather feedback from our app users, so if you have any improvements, please feel free to send them to us at: weareundefeatable@goodboost.org

If you are still experiencing technical difficulties, please get in touch with weareundefeatable@goodboost.org explaining your issue.
