We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the “We Are Undefeatable in Blackburn with Darwen” Campaign, in partnership with Together an Active Future and other local partners.

We’re working with partners in this area to localise the national campaign, by featuring Blackburn with Darwen residents and signposting to local services. From boxing and wild swimming to cycling and walking, the inspiring stories showcasing diverse ways to be active while living with a health condition.

Visit the We Are Undefeatable in Blackburn with Darwen website here, and explore the inspirational stories of people moving more in a way that works for them.

A day of inspiration

In June 2024. Together an Active Future, Blackburn with Darwen Council, and We Are Undefeatable invited local partners to celebrate and connect over the launch the campaign. Ewood Park, the home of Blackburn Rovers FC, provided the perfect backdrop to share the stories featured in the campaign who have embraced physical activity to improve their health and wellbeing.

The day showed the power of community connections, creating a space for attendees to see the tangible difference their work makes. Campaign storytellers shared their experiences, highlighting the positive impact that physical activity has on the management of their health conditions.

Bringing together partners from the local area to talk about the physical and mental benefits of physical activity

Localising the national campaign in Blackburn with Darwen

  • Local Storytellers: We’re spotlighting everyday people in the Blackburn with Darwen, such as Chris who lives with Parkinson’s and plays walking football to stay active with support from local provider, Mind2Muscle. Their relatable and local experiences aim to inspire others locally, making the message more impactful.

  • Targeted Approach: Using public health data, we've matched the most relevant stories to different community areas within the borough, ensuring the campaign addresses health conditions based on their prevalence at the ward level.

  • Empowering Professionals: Healthcare professionals play a vital role in encouraging physical activity. We’ve shared resources including We Are Undefeatable’s ‘Bridging the Gap’ report and Moving Medicine packs to equip them to better support conversations with patients about activity. We want them to use the campaign website as a destination for signposting and inspiration.

  • Collaboration is Key: We called upon all community partners to join forces and spread the word. They can share our social media posts, use campaign assets in their communications and influence their networks and other professionals, to create a movement in Blackburn with Darwen.

At a recent We Are Undefeatable webinar, colleagues from Together an Active Future and Blackburn with Darwen Council discussed this localised campaign in more detail. You can catch up on the webinar here.
