In spring 2026, Forestry England launched their Accessible Adventures campaign, a national campaign highlighting the nation’s forests as a space for wellbeing and inclusion.
To create the campaign, Forestry England teamed up with a range of social media influencers to tell authentic, lived experience stories showcasing how forests can support people with long term health conditions and disabilities with their physical and mental wellbeing.
We went down to Alice Holt Forest to explore the site, speak to the influencers and chat to Alexander Broun, Health & Wellbeing Marketing Lead for Forestry England, about the campaign’s goals and how their work aligns with We Are Undefeatable.
What is Accessible Adventures?
Accessible Adventures is a campaign Forestry England are running to showcase our forests as a place to be enjoyed by everyone. We’re using lived experience voices to bring the campaign to life, by working with influencers and content creators.
How does the campaign help people with long term health conditions to get active?
The campaign encourages people to experience the forest through their own lens and in their own way. We want to showcase different perspectives around getting active in the forest from our influencers and hopefully empower and build others’ confidence to get moving in the forest. We want to show that you don’t have to be a runner or hiker to get active in the forest – you can just do what works for you.
What are the benefits of moving more in the forest?
The benefits of getting active the forest are numerous. It's a great way to get outside and breathe the fresh air. There’s also the opportunity to feel connected with the natural world - walking on trails, being able to see the trees, feel the wind and experience the sights and sounds of the forest. For me, it helps me to relax and feel more prepared to face the day.
You’re working with influencers on this campaign - what value do you see in lived experience storytelling?
For us, the value of working with influencers is really about authenticity. It allows us to showcase realistically what their experience of the forest is like, and what they deal with on a day-to-day basis as people living with long term health conditions and disabilities. We can use our platforms and channels to share their stories, but ultimately they are the ones who can tell their story and their experience best.
How does your work align with We Are Undefeatable?
We Are Undefeatable and Forestry England are aligned in that we both want to empower people and build their confidence to get outside and live better, more fulfilled lives. I also think that we have a shared perspective on the importance of bringing spaces like the forest to life through lived experience voices.
We Are Undefeatable are a great partner to have because they represent so many varied perspectives, both from people with lived experience and a range of charity partners. We represent a huge amount of space that is waiting to be experienced by that selection of people - so working with you guys is great.
Through the Accessible Adventures campaign, we hope that by utilising lived experience voices we can show that our forests are a place for everyone and that everyone can benefit from getting active in and experiencing the forest, no matter what it looks like for them.
